Cosmeceuticals

The word ‘cosmeceutical’ is not one that will be found in the dictionary. It was originally coined to denote products that fall between the categories of cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. The difference being that cosmetics are available over the counter and pharmaceuticals require a prescription. Cosmeceuticals do not require a prescription but should be provided under the guidance of a trained practitioner. Essentially cosmeceuticals contain clinically proven anti-ageing ingredients in greater quantities than can legally be supplied in over the counter products.
